Veteran rider Tim Wood (Team Echelon) took victory by just nine seconds in the Gloucester City Cycling Club 25, while Amber Bullingham (Gloucester City Cycling Club) was the only woman competitor.
Wood covered the testing 25-mile course in a winning time of 56 minutes and 46 seconds to take his first open time trial win of the season.
The undulating U72 saw competitors start and finish near Hartpury before heading out and back along the A417 out to Staunton over the M50 junction and into Herefordshire with the turn near Ledbury.
Previous winner of the Beacon RCC round of the Merlin Cycles Classic Series in 2021, Wood showed his form over the undulating terrain again to take his maiden open time trial victory of the season.
Despite the testing course the 49-year-old recorded an average speed of over 26.4 miles per hour on his way to victory.
Fellow veteran Tony Chapman (Frome and District Wheelers) provided a tough competition but was just nine seconds behind stopping the clock in 56-55.
Completing the podium positions was another veteran rider Karl Norris (360VRT) whose time of 57-48 was 18 seconds quicker than Edd Charlton-Weedy (Army Cycling) in 58-06.
In her first open time trial outing Bullingham was the only female competitor and posted a time of 1-09-20.
The quickest junior rider was Cameron Bonner (Dursley Road Club) who finished in 1-11-16.
Jake Sargent’s course record of 51-16 still stands, as does the women’s course record held by Ellie Mackman of 1-00-44.
