There were some good battles for the Clive Askwith Trophies on the East Yorkshire coast, as Vive le Velo staged their annual time trial on the 25-mile V433 course.
Richard Sharp (ADDFORM Vive le Velo) proved quickest on a time trial bike with 50-38, falling around a minute short of coach Adam Duggleby’s course record from last year of 49-32.
That was 1-24 faster than runner-up Ben Pease (Moonglu CC), with third going to another ADDFORM Vive le Velo rider David Brearley, with 52-35.
And in the women’s event victory went Army Cycling’s Sue McFarlane in 1-03-31, over seven minutes quicker than second-placed Sandra Burrows, while third place and riding a road bike was Susan Sanders (Drighlington BC).
There was a close battle in the medium gear event too, with Chris Dugher (Goole Vermuyden CC) clocking 1-07-26 to win by just four seconds from Jymmy Trevor (City RC Hull).
And as well as solo victory, Richard Sharp led ADDFORM Vive le Velo to the team prize with David Brearley and Richard Peel completing the victorious trio.
Top road biker was another ADDFORM Vive le Velo rider in the returning Darren Yarwood, who clocked 58-34 to win by just over a minute from Steven Guymer (Squadra RT).
The event used the V433 course starting south of Bridlington and heading down the A165 through Beeford and Brandesburton and turning near Leven.
Sharp is in good form this season, having been fastest veteran rider at the second round of the Merlin Cycles Classic Series in Staffordshire on Good Friday, and also being fastest rider on actual time at the VTTA National 25-Mile Championships earlier this month.
He has also entered the fourth round of the Merlin Cycles Classic Series, and so will be heading to Scotland for next Sunday’s race.
