Yorkshire CF 10 wins for Morris and McFarlane

Kieran Morris claimed victory at the Yorkshire Cycling Federation 10-mile time trial in Arkendale on Saturday afternoon, with Sue McFarlane finishing as fastest female.

Total Tri Training rider Morris clocked 20-38 to take first place ahead of Euan Adam of Durham City Velo who was nine seconds back in 20-47, with Otley CC rider Matthew Peace taking the final podium spot in 21-19.

In the women’s event, McFarlane (Army Cycling) finished in 26-06 to complete a dominant win ahead of Sarah Foulds (Velo Culture) and Gretchen Zoeller (Ilkeston Cycle Club) who were joint second in 28-18 in an incredible finish.

Elsewhere, the men’s road bike event was won by Drighlington BC rider Joe House in 22-56, with a time of 23-02 helping Nikolas Hanson (Valley Striders Cycling Club) finish second and House’s team-mate Sean Sanders 19 seconds back to take third in 23-21.

The women’s road bike event saw a clean sweep for Valley Striders Club, with Rachel Meredith (25-56), Eleanor Stafford (26-44) and Philippa Cox (31-22) completing the top three.

In the veteran time trial category, Russ Richardson of Zurbaran Racing took victory in -05-39.

This event, run on the V212 course, starts 3.5 miles south of Boroughbridge on the entrance to A168 and turns left onto A168, proceeding to Walshford roundabout then encircles the roundabout and retraces along A168 to Arkendale Road, to finish adjacent to central bollard at a red paint mark.
