Jacob Storey (trainSharp) and road bike competitor Kaitlyn Dennis (Oxford University CC) were the quickest male and female riders respectively in the Didcot Phoenix CC 10.

Storey, aged 31, returned to open time trialling after an almost two-month absence with a storming time of 19 minutes and 26 seconds.

The road bike fields were bigger than the time trial category with Oliver Featherstone (Cowley Road Condors CC) the quickest man in 20-51 and Dennis the fastest woman (24-12).

The H10/17R saw competitors start and finish outside Kingston Bagpuize in Berkshire before heading out and back along the A420 to the turn at Tubney Wood.

Storey, from London, won the Didcot Phoenix 25 on his last outing in June and was once again victorious in the men’s time trial category.

Quickest veteran on scratch Anthony Turner (Mickey Cranks Cycling Club) was second in 19-55, while Nick Richards (GS Mossa) completed the podium positions (20-33).

The men’s road bike category attracted a stellar field with the top four riders all dipping under the 22-minute mark.

Featherstone won the Didcot Phoenix CC 25 in his first open road bike category time trial event and continued his winning form on this occasion.

A close battle for the remaining podium positions saw Richard Santhouse (Banbury Star Cyclists' Club) place second in 21-26 which was 16 seconds quicker than third place Felix Bird (Cowley Road Condors CC) (21-42), while Matt Jarvis (Cowley Road Condors CC) had to settle for fourth despite posting 21-54.

In the women’s events the fastest three times were posted in the road bike category with Oxford University CC rider Dennis stopping the clock in 24-12.

Dennis also won the Farnborough & Camberley CC 10 on her only other open time trial outing in March, but that time was on a time trial bike.

Ella Roper (05/03) was second in the women’s road bike category in 24-37, while Vanessa Fursden (Wahoo Le Col) finished third (25-32).

The women’s time trial category was a closely fought contest with Jo Wilkie (Cheltenham & County Cycling Club) posting the quickest time of 25-26.

Just nine seconds further back was Kate Bradley (Born to Bike - Bridgtown Cycles) in 25-35 and Michelle McGuinness (Didcot Phoenix CC) finished third (25-53).
