Neil Harris

Neil Harris picked up his first win of the season at the Southborough & District Wheelers 10-mile time trial in Kent on Saturday afternoon, while Hannah Graveney was fastest female.

Riding for the promoting club, Harris earned victory in a time of 20-12, while VeloRefined Rule 5 rider Andrew Meilak’s 21-00 was enough for second and Steve Gooch (Rye & District Wheelers) secured third place in 22-28, narrowly ahead of the 22-31 recorded by Ashford Wheelers’ Matt Clark.

In the women’s event, Hannah Graveney (AWOL O’Shea Worx) finished in 25-12 to win ahead of promoting club rider Pip Jenkins in 25-33, while Kent Velo Girls/Boys member Debbie Percival’s time of 27-23 helped her to the final spot on the podium.

In the road bike category, GS Invicta’s Tim Kingston emerged winner of the men’s event in 23-39 while Owen Vidler (Hastings & St Leonards CC) was just six seconds back in 23-45 for second.

The women’s road bike race saw Nicola Smith (San Fairy Ann CC) finish fastest in 28-06 ahead of the 28-21 set by Southborough & District Wheelers’ Emma Haswell.

Meilak also took home the fastest veteran on standard time in +6-14 with Harris second and Gooch third, while Harris, Paul McDaid and David Bagge did enough for Southborough & District Wheelers to take the time prize.

This 10-mile event, run on the Q10/33 course, start at Leigh Green and heads to Appledore where riders turn left and continue northbound to Woodchurch, the west to the finish on Woodchurch Road.
