Nicholas Fennell and Nicola Lilley were fastest male and female riders at the 34th Wigmore CC Bill Philbrook Memorial 25-mile time trial in Kent on Sunday morning.

30-year-old Fennell, riding for Thanet Road Club, covered the Q25/8 course near Chilham in 52-02 to take the win by 3-26 from Mark Hill (VeloRefined Rule 5), with third spot going to Neil Lauder (Arctic Aircon RT), who was just 15 seconds further off the pace.

The fastest of the females was Medway Tri member Nicola Lilley with 1-05-08, which was enough for victory by 3-17 from Delyth Williams (Dulwich Paragon CC) while Lilley’s team-mate at Medway Tri, Belinda Harrison was third.

Lilley is better known for her triathlon exploits, having clinched a silver medal at the World Age Group Championships in Abu Dhabi last year.

Thanet Road Club also tasted victory in the road bikes category with Paul Burrows covering the course in 57-15 to win by 2-37 from Ewan Tuohy (Dartford RC), with Mark Amon (Rye and District Wheelers) third.

As well as second overall Mark Hill was also the best veteran on standard with a plus of 13-39, which was 1-48 better than Keith Walker of the promoting club, while Simon Henderson was third best veteran on standard with +11.38.

As well as winning the overall and the road bike categories, Thanet Road Club also won the team prize with Fennell and Burrows being joined by Lister in the winning trio with a combined time of 2-47-56.

This was win number three for the season for Nic Fennell in open time trials, having also been victorious at the Kent CA 10 on April 16 as well as the VTTA Kent 10 last weekend.
