Michael Sloanes (Velo Culture) and Theresa Taylor (Springfield Financial Racing Team) won the men’s and women’s competitions respectively in the Cleveland Coureurs/VTTA 25.

Sloanes took his first ever open time trial victory recording a time of 52 minutes and 15 seconds on the A19 in North Yorkshire.

The T252/3 saw competitors start outside Crathorne before heading south on the A19 down to the turn at Knayton before making the return journey.

Sloanes, aged 37, finished eighth in the Pendle Forest CC 10 last weekend but improved on that position over the longer distance to take the victory – recording an average speed of over 28.7 miles per hour.

Veteran rider Harry Walker (Revolver Racing) continues his search for an open victory after settling for second this time out 27 seconds back in 52-42.

A close battle for the podium positions saw John Alexander (Deeside Thistle CC) finish third in 52-53, while road bike rider Josef Murray (AIMS Cycling) was a further 16 seconds back in fourth overall (53-09).

Spindata had predicted that Alexander would go quickest out of those finishers in 52-55, but Sloanes smashed his forecasted 53-51 to take a fine victory.

In the women’s category 63-year-old Taylor recorded an average speed of over 23.5 miles per hour to stop the clock in 1-03-35.

Coming home 48 seconds behind her Springfield Financial Racing team-mate was Karen Taylor who finished second in 1-04-23.

At last weekend’s SVTTA 30 incorporating the VTTA British Championship it was Karen Taylor who finished four seconds quicker than her team-mate, but that result was reversed this time out.

Completing the women’s podium positions was Sue Cheetham (North Lancashire Road Club) finishing just six seconds further back.

With his fourth-placed overall time of 53-09 Murray took a comfortable victory in the road bike category finishing five minutes clear of his nearest opponent.

Veteran rider Noel Stoddart (Allen Valley Velo) was second road bike in 58-25, while junior rider Sophie Heighton (Ferryhill Whs) was the only female road bike competitor finishing third overall in 1-07-24.
