Team-mates George Fox and Bethany Spencer were fastest male and female riders respectively at the Kettering CC Frank and Joy Sheppard Memorial 10-mile time trial in Northamptonshire on Saturday afternoon.

Both riding for George Fox Cycling Solutions, the pair were fastest over the N3/10 course beginning near Lamport and heading up to near Rothwell and back.

Fox clocked 20-35 to take the win by 15 seconds from David Mead (Lutterworth Cycle Centre), with third fastest male being Antony Brown (George Fox Cycling Solutions) with 22-30.

Spencer clocked 28-29 to finish as fastest of two females by 33 seconds with Team Enable-MI Racing rival Zoe Shepherd being runner-up in that category.

“It was good to get back out racing,” said Spencer. “It was my first race of the season due to illness and injuries so I wasn’t expecting much, but I’m pleased with the result despite the difficult headwind on the return leg.”

And Fox added: “I’ve had some questionable rides on this course over the last 12 months so it was nice to get the win today and have that as the finish to the season.”

The event also included a two-up section, which George Fox also won alongside team-mate Fabos Young in a time of 21-39, 1-05 quicker than runners-up Euan Bell and Josh Gilbert of Ilkeston CC.

Fox added: “The two-up was a challenge as Fabos was quite poorly today but he still gave it a good go and we managed the win by just enough!”
