Paul Pardoe and Lindsay Clarke stormed to victories at the Northampton and District CA’s 12.8-mile time trial near Cottingham on Saturday morning.
Peterborough CC veteran Pardoe clocked 29-09 for the new course, putting down a benchmark for future editions of the event. Similarly, Lindsay Clarke (Fenland Clarion) set a new women’s record of 40-04 on a road bike.
Pardoe’s time was eight seconds better than runner-up Sam McDonald (St Neots CC), with third being Team PB Performance espoir Cian Leveridge with 30-22.
Clarke’s time was just one second better than second female Hayley Moore (Ilkeston CC), while third was Kettering CC’s Maria Gent with 41-34.
The NC13c course begins near Cottingham and leads on an anti-clockwise loop over through Ashley and Weston-by-Welland, before heading down towards Market Harborough and then heading back east through Brampton Ash and East Carlton.
This was Paul Pardoe’s second open time trial victory of the season following a win at the Northampton and District CA 10-mile event in April near Naseby, although he has also twice finished second at the Leo 30 in May and Northampton and District 15-miler in June.
Coming up he’s next due to be in action at the Eastern Counties CA 10-mile Championship next Saturday.
Lindsay Clarke has also enjoyed several other victories this season. She won the Fenland Clarion 25-mile event in May which was also the National Clarion Championship, as well as three editions of the Northampton and District CA 10 and the Melton Olympic 10 in April.
Fastest on a road bike in this Northampton and District CA 12.8-mile event was Michael Walker (Guide Cycling) in 33-19, with Patrick Ellerbeck (St Neots CC) second with 34-55 and Richard Latimer (Welland Valley CC) another 18 seconds back in third.
