Oliver Peckover earned a fifth win from seven races this season with victory in the men’s event at the Northampton & District Cycling Association 15-mile time trial in Northamptonshire on Saturday afternoon, with Maria Gent the fastest female.
In a time of 29-58, trainSharp rider Peckover was comfortably ahead of the field with Peterborough CC’s Paul Pardoe runner-up in 32-00 and Sam Woodfield (Rule 28 X ATP Performance) claiming the final podium place in a time of 33-34.
Having placed third at the RTTC National Team Time Trial Championship on May 21 and then followed that up with second at the VTTA East Midlands 25-mile time trial on June 3, Peckover now has a first win in three races.
In the women’s event, Gent, riding for Kettering CC, clocked 43-36 to take top spot ahead of Sarah Bentley (Fenland Clarion CC) who finished in 45-55.
Elsewhere among the prize categories, Peterborough CC were the dominant team with Pardoe, Jamie Murray and Malcolm Smith earning the team prize for their efforts.
There was further success for Smith, claiming Fastest Overall Veteran on Standard in +8-00, ahead of Pardoe on +7-31 and Roger Porter who registered +6-35.
This event, run on course N1/15, follows an out-and-back course that starts just east of Upton and heads northbound along the A1 (M) past the Sawtry Interchange to turn at Norman Cross and follow the route back southbound to finish just north of the start line.
