Securing his second win in as many days, Jack Levick (Rose Race Team) powered to victory in the Fenland Clarion 25-mile time trial in Cambridgeshire on Sunday, while the promoting club’s Lindsay Clarke was fastest female.
The event doubled up as the National Clarion Championship and Levick, also a member of the Tuxford Clarion, took the win in a time of 51-46 which was more than three minutes clear of his nearest rival in Edward Calow of the Royal Air Force Cycling Association, with David Glossy (Elysium Kala RT) third.
Clarke’s time for the course near Sawtry was 1-04-07 which was just under one minute better than Sally Maitland (Ratae RC), with third going to Lisa Jackson (St Ives CC).
Levick, who was also victorious in the previous day’s Leo 30-mile time trial nearby, looked rapid but was still 57 seconds shy of Michael Hutchinson’s course record.
In other categories Fenland Clarion took the team honours with Shane Mezzatesta 57:42, Chris Cummings 59:28 and Chris Shaw 1:02:41 combining for 2:59:51.
Next up for Levick is the Eastern Counties CA 50-mile championship event on May 27.
This event ran on the popular N1/25c course near Six Mile Bottom, which takes riders on the B1043 alongside the A1(M) from Alconbury Interchange through Sawtry and on to Stilton, where they turn and retrace down to Sawtry before turning again north for Stilton before heading back down to a finish just south of Sawtry.
