George Fox and Linda Hubbard proved fastest male and female riders respectively at the Mark Bell Memorial 20-mile time trial staged by Kettering CC in Northamptonshire on Sunday.
Last year’s event winner Fox, 29 and from Northampton, took the win in a time of 42-49 for his own George Fox Cycling Solutions team, which was 4-30 faster than second-placed Alex Hodgkinson (Ilkeston CC), while third for a second consecutive year was Fox’s veteran team-mate Antony Brown with 47-31.
Hubbard, the 57-year-old Welland Valley CC rider, covered the NC1a course near Lowick in 56-09 to take the women’s prize by more than two and a half minutes from Kettering CC’s Maria Gent in 58-42.
Starting near Lowick, the riders head up through Sudborough and Brigstock on the A6116 to Stanion, where they head back south through Geddington to the outskirts of Kettering before heading back east through Slinton to finish near Lowick again.
Just outside the podium, Ryan Witchell (Team Salesengine.co.uk) was fourth in 47-42, while 17 seconds behind him in fifth was Velo Elite RC veteran Danny Metherell, with Rockingham Forest Wheelers duo Graeme Hall and Philip Wilkinson behind in sixth and seventh respectively.
