Veteran rider Richard Oakes (Team Ohten Aveas) took victory by just three seconds in the Icknield RC 10, while Linda Dewhurst (Team Milton Keynes) was a clear winner in the women’s event.
Oakes posted a winning time of 19 minutes and 40 seconds to win a close event which saw the top three riders separated by just 10 seconds.
The F15/10 saw competitors start and finish near Brogborough, outside Milton Keynes, before heading out and back to Wootton an unclassified road which runs adjacent to the A421.
Oakes, 54 and from Rutland in Leicestershire, had already won three open time trial events this season coming into the race – including the midweek Belper BC 6.4-mile event – and added another win to his tally.
Ken Buckley (BPC Race Team) finished second just three seconds back (19-43), while after a close battle for the podium positions Luke Clarke (TMG Horizon Cycling Team) finished third a further seven seconds back (19-50).
Spindata had predicted a victory for Oakes in 19-44 and he improved that predicted time by four seconds to take the slender victory.
Alex Pickering (Elysium Kalas Race Team) was the quickest rider in the road bike category finishing eighth overall in 21-32.
In the women’s event veteran rider Linda Dewhurst (Team Milton Keynes) posted a winning time of 22 minutes and 57 seconds.
Dewhurst, aged 62 and from Granborough, also won the Team Milton Keynes 10.5 two weeks earlier and added another victory to her collection.
Helen Roby (Ride Revolution Coaching) took second after stopping the clock in 23-36, while Frances Lammyman (St Neots CC) finished third (24-16).
