Lindsay Clarke was fastest woman while George Fox finished quickest male at the Northampton and District Cycling Association 10-mile time trial in Brogborough on Saturday afternoon.
Fenland Clarion CC rider Clarke clocked 25-08 over the course to see off competition from Julia Van Campen (Reading CC) who was 22 seconds back in 25-30 to take second while High Wycombe CC rider Joy Payne completed the podium in 26-37.
It proved a successful day for Clarke as she claimed victory in her maiden race of the season, having also finished fastest female at the Northampton and District Cycling Association 10-mile time trial in June 2022, clocking an impressive 24-55 on her way to success that day.
In the men’s event, a dramatic finale saw Fox (George Fox Cycling Solutions) as the final rider out of the start and he narrowly secured success in 19-43, just three seconds ahead of DRAG2ZERO’s Josh Newbould who had to settle for the runners-up spot in 19-46, while Peterborough CC member Paul Pardoe was third in 20-10.
This 10-mile event, run on the F15/10 course, starts on the hill just north of Brogborough and proceeds north along the old A421 then straight through the Marston Roundabout and onwards to turn at Fields Road Wootton roundabout to retrace the outbound route south along the old A421 to finish just past Lidlington.
