Nigel Polkinghorne earned a fourth win from 13 events this season in the men’s event at the Saint Piran 30-mile time trial in Cornwall on Sunday, with the women’s event won by Eve Sealy on Sunday morning.

Duchy Velo rider Polkinghorne clocked 43-50 to take victory ahead of Penzance Wheelers CC’s Anthony Green who finished in 45-08 for the runners-up spot, while a time of 45-19 helped Matty Beecher take the final spot on the podium at the event, which was also the South West District Championship.

Polkinghorne now has three wins from his last four races, having won at Duchy Velo 16-mile time trial on July 5, finished runner-up at Wadebridge Coasters 10-mile time trial on July 20, and then triumphed at Truro CC’s 10-mile time trial on July 23 – as well as an earlier season success at City Cycle Couriers RT 10-mile time trial on June 3.

In the women’s event Sealy managed a time of 51-22 for first place, the Tri Logic Cornwall rider finishing ahead of Saint Piran’s Hannah Bayes in 52-17, and Lindsay Philp of Wadebridge Coasters Cycling Club taking third place in a time of 56-09.

This event, run on the S45/30S course, starts on Lizard Green and heads north to Culdrose roundabout before turning east and through Garras and past Goonhilly, before turning south of Trevithian and retracing.
