Conrad Moss powered to victory at the Alltrax midweek 10-mile event in Devon, denying Mid-Devon CC a clean sweep of the podium. Meanwhile, Steve White (North Devon Velo) was quickest on a road bike.

Moss (Nopinz) clocked 19-21 to take the win by eight seconds from Andrew Perkins, whose Mid-Devon CC team-mates James Pearcy and Donald Brooks were third and fourth with 19-45 and 19-47 respectively in a close result at the event near Buckfastleigh.

Steve White clocked 22-06 to win the road bike category by 2-20 from Adam Gitlin (Alltrax), while Ian Scott (City Cycle Couriers RT) was third with 27-09.

This was Conrad Moss’s third open time trial win of the season so far, having also taken victory in the Mid-Devon CC 10 n the same S4/10 course back in May, as well as winning the Giant Helston 25-mile event near Lanivet three weeks earlier.

“I was pleased to win this one as I'm very under-raced this season,” said Moss. “I’ve only had two outings previously, so I feel like there's work to do if I'm going to get close to last year.

“I was sat on the rollers starting my warm-up, but had to stop after a few minutes due to a really heavy downpour which was kicking up spray. I was sat in my car and going to DNS, but then there was a break in the weather so I decided I'd ride.

“It was a bit of a shock to the system with no warm-up and I was blowing a bit, so I’m very relieved to scrape the win.”

Moss will now move on to the Mid-Devon CC 25-miler on Sunday, before making a few forays into Wales next month as he searches for some form.

The event used the S4/10 course which begins near the hamlet of Dean Prior on the A38 and heads north east round Buckfastleigh and on to Ashburton, turning at Linhay Junction and heading back down the Devon Expressway.

No women rode this event.
