Duchy Velo’s Nigel Polkinghorne won his own clubs midweek 16-mile time trial in Cornwall, while Sophie Butcher (Tri Logic Cornwall) was quickest of the women.
Meanwhile, in the road bike category fastest was Anthony Green (Penzance Wheelers), with Cath Bateman (Tavistock Wheelers) being best female.
Polkinghorne’s win was his second of the season in open events, having won the City Cycle Couriers 10 last month. His time of 39-16 was the only one under 40 minutes, and gave him the win by 1-37 from Michael Hooper (05/03), with third being Giant Helston’s Oliver Baylin with 41-12.
Fastest female Sophie Butcher clocked 47-46 to win the women’s prize by 51 seconds from Martina Geraghty (Penzance Wheelers), while third was Lindsay Philp (Wadebridge Coasters CC), another three and a half minutes back.
Top road bike rider Anthony Green of Penzance Wheelers placed sixth overall in a time of 43-39, 51 seconds better than runner-up Chris Dominey (Duchy Velo) with John Morse (Penzance Wheelers) being third in that category. And best female on a road bike, Cath Bateman clocked 56-30.
The event used the S102/16s course which uses minor roads tracking the A30. It begins north of Roche and heads up to Innis Downs before turning and heading back down towards St Columb Major, where they turn again and head back to Roche.
This win for Sophie Butcher was her second of the season so far in open time trialling, following her win last month in the St Piran 10. It is also the first time this season she has finished ahead of Geraghty.
Butcher next hopes to ride on July 23 in the Truro CC 10.
