Martina Geraghty and Jason McGowan were fastest female and male riders respectively at the Tri Logic 10-mile time trial near Tresillian in Cornwall on Sunday.
51-year-old McGowan, based in Newquay and riding for Giant Helston, proved quickest with a time of 21-49 to take the overall win by just three seconds from Duchy Velo rival Nigel Polkinghorne, while third was fellow veteran Gavin McDougall, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines CA rider who was only another two seconds back.
And Geraghty (Penzance Wheelers) clocked 25-45 to win the women’s category by 1-34 from Tri Logic Cornwall rider Sophie Butcher, while third fastest female was Lindsay Philp (Wadebridge Coasters CC) in 27-43.
Fastest on a road bike was Jeremy Stonehouse (Wheal Velocity) in 25-23, which was just three seconds better than runner-up Tony Symons (Tavistock Wheelers). Best female on a road bike was Theresa Frost, the Tri Logic rider who clocked 29-51.
“This season is going much better than expected for this time of the year,” said McGowan, who was also victorious in the Penzance Wheelers 15 in April and second at the Penzance Wheelers 25 on May 7.
“Two wins so far is a nice result. Sunday was a headwind out to the turn that was a bit of a slog but had a good fast return leg. The legs felt good and just managed to get the win by a handful of seconds.”
He is next in action at the Mid-Devon CC 10 tomorrow night, and then again the following Wednesday in the Alltrax 10 on the same course near Buckfastleigh.
