Tom Scorer

Martina Geraghty continued her fine form this season by finishing as fastest woman at Penzance Wheelers’ 25-mile time trial in Cornwall on Sunday morning, while Tom Scorer was fastest male over the course.

Riding for the host club, Geraghty set a time of 01:02-45 to finish well ahead of the 01:10-02 set by second-placed Lindsay Philp (Wadebridge Coasters), while Tri Logic Cornwall rider Karen mcClay took third spot in 01:11-57.

This is the latest in a string of successes for Geraghty in what is turning out to be an excellent season for the 54-year-old.

In the men’s event, Scorer came into the time trial in similarly dominant form having won both of his two rides so far this season, although he was predicted to finish second in 51-06 on SpinData.

The Royal Navy & Royal Marines Cycling Association rider continued that habit by clocking 50-12 and comfortably seeing off runner-up Jason McGowan, riding for Giant Helston, who was almost four minutes back in 53-56, while Scorer’s teammate Gavin MacDougall was third in 54-06.

This event, run on the S100/25 course, starts just north of Roche and heads east to the Victoria Interchange before turning west on the A30 to Redruth, with riders continuing until turning at the roundabout at Indian Queens, then retracing the outbound route along the A30 eastbound until the Victoria Interchange, where riders turn and repeat the first lap and turning off at the Innis Downs Interchange to finish on the old A30.
