Eve Sealy finished as fastest woman while James Grogan was quickest male at the Penzance Wheelers 10-mile time trial amid chilly conditions in Cornwall on Sunday morning.

Tri Logic Cornwall rider Sealy recorded 26-01 to take an impressive victory ahead of Penzance Wheelers’ Angharad Berriman who finished in 26-34, while a time of 27-36 helped Sealy’s team-mate Claire Gwennap to secure third place.

In the men’s event Grogan, riding for www.giant-helston.co.uk, secured an impressive win in 22-31 while Kevin Dawson (Penzance Wheelers CC) was runner-up in 23-25, just seven seconds faster than Tri Logic Cornwall’s Philip Bache who finished the 10-mile course in 23-33.

In his first time trial since August last year, Grogan will be delighted to kickstart his season with a dominant win, having finished tenth in his last race at the City Cycle Couriers 10-mile time trial, while this goes down as his first ever individual time trial success.

Grogan had previously won the Giant Helston four-up 25-mile time trial in September 2019 while he finished runner-up at the individual Penzance Wheelers CC time trial in April 2022 and then again at the Duchy Velo 10-mile time trial in July 2022.

This event, run on the S37/10 course, starts on the B3293, and continues west towards Goonhilly Downs and Helston, turning at Mawgan Cross roundabout in Garras village, adjacent to the war memorial, as riders then take the fourth exit and retrace on the B3293 to finish at the entrance to the field just prior to sharp right-hand bend.
