Louise Robinson (Essex Roads CC) and Piotr Zulawski (Cambridge CC) were fastest female and male riders at the Eastern Counties CA Terry Anderson Memorial 10-mile time trial in Cambridgeshire on Saturday afternoon.

The popular Six Mile Bottom E2/10 course attracted good fields for the event, although delays on the motorway meant some riders didn’t make it.

Course records remained firmly on the shelf with strong winds, although it was a dry and warm afternoon as riders headed from Six Mile Bottom down the A11 to Babraham and back.

Zulawski clocked 19-01 to take the win by 17 seconds from veteran Richard Oakes (Team Ohten Aveas), while just one second further back was trainSharp’s Jacob Storey in third.

And in the women’s category in-form Robinson covered the course in 22-24 to win by just one second from Deborah Beare (Icknield RC) with third being Denise Hurren (Sole Bay Cycle Sport), another 26 seconds off the pace.

Zulawski teamed up with Cambridge CC colleagues Adam Fisher and Martin Reynolds as the winning team too, while the fastest tandem was the record-breaking duo of Rachael Elliott and Ian Greenstreet (Newbury Velo) in an impressive 19-43.

Eagle Road Club’s Thomas Dean was the winner in the handicap category with a handicap time of 12-51, while second was Claire Lee (Shaftesbury CC) with 14-14.

This was Zulawski’s second open time trial win of the season so far having also been victorious at the East Anglian VTTA 10 back in June. His next ride looks set to be in the National 10-Mile Championship in Northumberland on September 3.

Robinson’s victory in the women’s category showed she is back to good form after a non-bike related accident which left her out of action for some time. Among her other victories this season are the Hart Performance Coaching 10 last month, the Elite CC 10 in June, the West Kent RC 10 and Eastern Countries CA 25 in April and the Maldon & District CC hilly 22 back in March.
