Jack Levick (Rose Race Team) was the quickest rider by almost a minute at the Leo 30, while Emily Robertson (Bedfordshire Road CC) was the fastest woman while riding a road bike.
Levick celebrated his 26th birthday earlier in the week and celebrated in style by posting a rapid time of 1-02-18 – 58 seconds quicker than best road bike rider Alex Pritchard (HUUB WattShop).
The E33/30 saw competitors complete two laps of a sporting triangular circuit starting and finishing near Six Miles Bottom.
Starting on the A1304 riders headed out towards Newmarket Racecourse before turning onto the A1303 on the second leg towards Stow-cum-Quy and then the final side of the triangle course back down to Six Miles Bottom.
Competitors completed two full laps of the 12.5-mile course and then a final out and back leg on the A1304 to Newmarket Racecourse before returning to the start/finish.
Times were impacted by a cold northerly wind and the temperature didn't get much above 10 degrees Celsius. The event was in memorial to Alan Rochford and Val Hester
Levick, from Newmarket, has already won four open time trial events this season and made it five victories finishing over two minutes clear of his closest time trial bike competitor.
Veteran rider Paul Pardoe (Peterborough CC) led the battle behind finish second on scratch in 1-04-25, while Chris Holmes (VC Norwich) was third (1-06-43).
The quickest woman on a time trial bike was Miriam Taylor-Carter (Bedfordshire Road CC) whose time of 1-18-30 was 23 seconds quicker than Susan Triplow (CC Sudbury).
The only tandem was ridden by 82-year-old A5 Rangers CC team-mates Murray Kirton and David Stockley who stopped the clock in 1-35-24.
“It was my first 30-mile time trial so I didn’t really know how to pace it,” said Levick. “I rode it like a 25 and then hung in there for the last five miles. This week I’ve had a cold but luckily I felt better for the event, I can’t really complain. It was in a predominant cross-wind, there was no monster section or tailwind.”
Levick won the George Hicks 'Leo 30' Trophy for the fastest ride, first awarded in 1947 the prize has a long list of famous winners including: Alf Engers (three times) Eddie Adkins, Martin Pyne, John Pritchard, Dave Eldridge, Michael Hutchinson, Matt Illingworth, Paul Bennett, Alan Rochford, Vic Gibbons and many more.
“I’m riding a couple of 50-mile events this month as I want to go two better than my third place last season in the National 50-mile Time Trial Championship.”
The road bike event saw an intriguing contest with Alex Pritchard (HUUB WattShop) taking victory in 1-03-16, the second fastest time posted on the day.
Former World Tour professional Alex Dowsett (Nopinz) finished second in 1-05-07, while Colin Ward (Essex Roads CC) was third (1-06-49).
Women’s road bike winner Robertson was also the quickest female on the day posting a time of 1-16-42, while Kerry Brennand (Newmarket Cycling & Triathlon Club) was second (1-21-17).
The event also incorporated the National VTTA open road circuit championships which was competed on age adjusted time.

The women’s time trial event on age adjusted time was won by Susan Triplow (CC Sudbury) whose time was reduced to 1-06-48 ahead of Miriam Taylor-Carter (Bedfordshire Road CC) in second (1-08-23).
The veteran’s road bike event on age adjusted time was won by Karl Norris (360VRT) in 1-05-21, who finished 25 seconds ahead of Nick Giles (Pocomotion Road Club) in second (1-05-46) and Patrick Ellerbeck (St Neots CC) finished third in 1-07-09.
