Dean Lubin (Team Vision Racing – Silverhook) battled against high winds and through standing water to take victory at the Colchester Rovers CC 50, while Karen Aylen (Maldon and District CC) was the only female competitor.
Veteran rider Lubin recorded a winning time of two hours, seven minutes and 17 seconds to finish well clear of her competitors.
Storm Antoni passed through Essex leaving competitors with difficult conditions for the three-lap course based in Essex.
The E7/50D based in Tendring saw competitors pass through Landermere, Beaumont, Great Oakley, Wix, Bradfield in the course which was inaugurated last year.
Lubin, aged 53, has taken several tandem victories previously with team-mate John Iszatt, but has gone solo this season and took his first open victory in the category.
Veteran riders dominated the men’s podium positions with James Thompson (Lea Valley CC) taking second in 2-08-51, while Andrew Whelan (Velo Schils Interbike RT) was a further 18 seconds back (2-09-09).
The only road bike competitor was Shane Jarvis (Colchester Rovers CC) whose time of 2-21-53 saw him place sixth overall.
Aylen was the only female competitor recording an average speed of over 19.6 miles per hour to stop the clock in 2-32-34.
Evergreen Colin White, aged 85, stopped to repair a puncture before still finishing the course with a time of 4-03-25.
