David Parkin and Deb Hutson-Lumb both set new course records on their way to victory at the West Cheshire TTA and Shropshire CCA 30-mile time trial on Sunday.
Parkin, the Velotik RT rider, clocked 1-02-30 to win on the day by just seven seconds from Grant Bigham (HUUB-WattShop), with David Williams (Velotike RT) another minute back in third.
Also setting a new course record was Deb Hutson-Lumb (Wrekinsport CC) whose time of 1-15-22 gave her victory by around two and a half minutes from Paramount CRT rival Hayley Wells, with third female being Chester RC’s Rebecca Holland.
As well as third, David Williams was fastest veteran on age adjusted time, while quickest rider on a road bike was Ludlow CC’s Robbie Disney. Top junior rider was Chester Romei, the Paramount CRT member whose time of 1-14-39 placed him 22nd overall in the field.
This was Parkin’s sixth open time trial victory of the season so far, with recent victories including the Dukinfield CC 50 last weekend as well as the Southport CC 15 the weekend before that.
He is next due to be in action in the Anfield BC 100 at the end of the month, and has also entered the VTTA East Midlands 25 on July 3.
Hutson-Lumb’s only other ride this season has been the Velotik RT 15 last month, where she was also victorious. Coming up next for her is the Stafford RC 10 next Saturday and then the Mid-Shropshire Wheelers 50 the following day.
This event used the D30/11 course beginning near Waters Upton, and using roads between Market Drayton and the outskirts of Telford.
