Loose Cannon’s Conditioning team-mates Matt and Hannah O’Brien were fastest male and female riders respectively at the King’s Lynn CC 10-mile time trial in Norfolk on Saturday afternoon.
The husband and wife pairing from Woodbridge in Suffolk were pleased with their respective performances and both set personal bests for the course, with Matt clocking 20-34 to win by 45 seconds from Darran Bennett (Ely and District CC) with Matthew McClure (Wisbech Wheelers) another seven seconds back in third.
And Hannah’s time of 22-26 gave her victory in the women’s category by eight seconds from team-mate Becky Ridge, with whom the O’Brien’s teamed up to take victory in the team category for Loose Cannon’s Conditioning.
“It was nice to win, and not too cold for the first time this year,” said Matt O’Brien, who was 30 seconds quicker this time than 12 months ago. “That was the third time I’ve ridden this course and it was the fastest I’ve done so a new course PB for me, although not by a massive margin.”
And Hannah O’Brien, who was 1-22 quicker than last year’s event, added: “It was a course PB for me too, I had a bit of traffic in my last event and was held up, so it’s nice to have a trouble-free ride.”
Wisbech Wheelers’ William Horspool was quickest juvenile in 23-36, while Spalding CC’s Jacob Booth clocked 26-17 for second in that category.
The course uses the B10/37r beginning south of Tottenhill and heading down the A10 to Downham Market. Riders then turn east and then back north on the A134 to the finish.
