David Mead (Team Lutterworth Cycle Centre) took victory by almost a minute in the Ratae Road Club 10, while host club rider Sally Maitland won the women’s event.

Mead, aged 47, was the only rider to break the 20-minute marker as he posted a winning time of 19 minutes and 38 seconds.

The A10/13 saw competitors start outside the Leicester City training ground north of Syston before joining the A46.

Riders then headed north-easterly to Six Hills Service Station after three miles and then exiting onto the B676.

After the 4.5-mile mark competitors then turned onto the A6006 back to the A46 at Dalby Interchange and headed back south-westerly for the final four miles.

Scratch rider Mead came into the event with four open victories to his name this season and made it five wins in convincing fashion.

Early starter Alex Hodgkinson (Ilkeston Cycle Club) led the charge for the remaining podium places stopping the clock in 20-37.

Veteran rider Robert Gibbons (Hinckley Cycle Racing Club) completed the podium positions in third (20-59), finishing 11 seconds faster than Isaac Russell (Team PB Performance) in fourth.

Along with taking the overall victory Mead was also the quickest on age adjusted time with his time reduced to 19-08.

Spindata also predicted a victory for Mead in 20-03, but in reality the veteran rider was 25 seconds quicker than his forecasted time.

The women’s event was won by veteran rider Maitland who recorded a time of 23 minutes and 49 seconds.

Fellow veteran Pamela Moore (Coalville Wheelers) finished second in 26-54, while Laura Vann-Hopewell (Ratae RC) finished third (28-23).

Quickest road bike competitor was Alex Hardy (South Normanton CC) who recorded a winning time of 22-53.

Marcus Partridge (Wattbike.com) finished second in his first open time trial event (23-40), while veteran Marc Fairclough (Leicester Forest CC) was third (24-36).

Meanwhile, Natalie Harris (Ratae RC) was the only woman road bike competitor and stopped the clock in 31-12.
