Alex Pritchard (HUUB-WattShop) was fastest overall at the VTTA East Midlands 10-mile time trial in Nottinghamshire on Saturday, while there were also impressive performances from Sleaford Wheelers’ Kathryn Smith and Richard Oakes from Team Ohten Aveas.
Smith was quickest on handicap with her time of 17-16 which was 25 seconds better than Mark Bottrill (Team Bottrill) with 17-41, while Kevin Wood (Sherwood CC) was third on handicap under the one rider one prize rule.
Oakes was fastest on age adjusted time with an actual time of 18-56 giving him a winning 17-50, while his team-mate Mike Twelves clocked 20-12 to finish second on age adjusted time and third fastest on handicap with 18-00.
Pritchard’s time of 18-28 was 35 seconds better than runner-up Ollie Hucks (Kalas Motip), with Lucas Jowett (Saint Piran) securing third under the one rider one prize rule with 20-02.
Similar to many events across the country last weekend the weather was kind, with a following breeze on the outward leg giving a headwind on the way back which made times a little slower generally.
The women’s prize was closely-fought with just two seconds separating the top three on actual times.
Trek Sheffield rider Sarah Harrison was fastest with 23-51, while there was a tie for second with 23-53 between Denise Burrows (AeroCoach) and Susan Semple (Legato Racing Team).
As well as securing the first two places in the age adjusted category, Team Ohten Aveas were victorious in the team category, winning both the actual and age adjusted categories with Robert West joining Oakes and Twelves in the winning trio.
The event used the A10/3 course near East Bridgford which heads up the A46 past Red Lodge, turning just past Syerston and finishing near Car Colston.
