Simon Wilson

Simon Wilson earned a seventh successive win in the men’s event at the East Lancashire Road Club 10 in Cumbria on Saturday evening, while Deborah Moss was the fastest woman to finish.

HUUB WattShop rider Wilson has enjoyed a near-flawless start to the 2023 campaign, having won seven successive races since his success at the Preston Cycling Club 19.2-mile time trial in June 2022.

He continued that form on Saturday, finishing in 17-55, more than a minute ahead of an otherwise congested field.

Behind Wilson there were just 23 seconds separating the following six riders, including a tie for sixth between Kamil Waligora (360Cycling) and Bevan Jones (Barton Wheelers).

Tristan Pilling (360Cycling) took the runners-up spot by just one second in a dramatic finish, clocking 18-56 while Total Tri Training’s Kieran Morris managed 18-57 for third, and Anexo Group Race Team pair Patrick Casey and Joe Cosgrove were fourth and fifth having finished in 19-01 and 19-02 respectively.

In the women’s event, Moss, riding for Springfield Financial Racing Team, was well ahead of the field in 22-21, while Legato Racing Team’s Susan Semple was second in 23-18 and Emma Houterman, of North Lancashire Road Club, clocked 23-57 to take the final podium spot.

This 10-mile event, run on the L1015 course, starts just southwest of the A6 and proceeds south west along the A590, circling the roundabout on Lindale bypass and retracing to finish just short of Levens Bridge.
