Richard Bideau earned success as fastest male at Border City Wheelers 20.2-mile time trial in Cumbria on Sunday morning, with Rachel Maxwell the quickest female on the course.
Pendle Forest CC rider Bideau secured victory with a time of 47-27, comfortably ahead of runner-up Richard Nesfield (Giant-Kendal-Sidas.uk) who recorded 48.02, while Marc Anderson (GTR Return to Life p/b Streamline) came home in 48-37 for the final podium spot.
Aside from Bideau’s success, Pendle Forest enjoyed a fruitful day out with Darren Harvey registering 52-19 in the Veteran 40 category ahead of Paul Braithwaite, and Martin Welsh finishing in 58-48 in the Veteran 60 grouping.
Maxwell, riding for the promoting club, clocked 1:05.47 to finish as fastest woman.
Bideau recorded his first win of the 2023 season, having managed runner-up at the Pendle Forest CC 26.2-mile time trial on March 18, seventh at the Yorkshire VTTA 10-mile on March 4 and the 10.3-mile Rossendale RC time trial on February 25.
This 20.2-mile event, run on the L202 course, sees riders complete a two-lap circuit which starts one mile west of Lazonby and heads west for 3.4 miles before reaching the junction with the A6 to take a left and continue south to Plumpton then left again at the junction with the B6413, following it east then north and west to join the start and complete a second lap with the finish just short of the start.
