David Mead (Team Lutterworth Cycle Centre) and Lauren Creamer (Velo Fixers) took the men’s and women’s victories respectively in the slightly shortened Coventry CC 10.

Due to roadworks the route was shortened slightly with the finish brought forward before the affected area - with the distanced shortened to around 9.6 miles.

Mead, aged 47, was the only rider to break the 20-minute barrier on the shortened course stopping the clock in a winning time of 19 minutes and 22 seconds.

Starting on the outskirts of Rugby in Warwickshire the course saw competitors head out and back along the A45 to Ryton-on-Dunsmore.

Veteran rider Mead, from Nuneaton, took his fourth open time trial victory of the season after also winning the Legato Racing Team 10 last month.

Fellow veteran Mike Twelves (Team Ohten Aveas) led a close battle for second with his time of 20-11 some 27 seconds quicker than Robert Gibbons (Hinckley Cycle Racing Club) in 20-38.

Spindata also predicted the top three positions correctly with Mead finishing four seconds quicker than his predicted 19-26 on the shortened course.

Mead also helped Team Lutterworth Cycle Centre to the fastest team award alongside Michael Wills and Ian Wroblewski.

In the women’s event Cream was a clear winner with her time of 21 minutes and 59 seconds 1-13 quicker than her nearest opponent.

Two weeks earlier Creamer was narrowly beaten into second on the same course in the Rugby Racing Cycling Club 10, but she was not to be denied this time out.

Quickest women veteran on scratch Debbie Bradley (Peddlamaniacs Cycle Club) took second overall in 23-12, while Susan Semple (Legato Racing Team) finished third (23-45).

In the road bike category James Veitch (Coalville Whs) was the quickest stopping the clock in a time of 21-53.

Matthew Mason (Apache Brave Racing) was second in 23.28, while Paolo Coppo (Coventry Road Club) rounded off the podium positions in third (24-30).
