Denise Burrows (AeroCoach) and Simon Smart (Drag2zero) were fastest female and male riders at the Wyre Forest CRC 10-mile event near Severn Stoke in Worcestershire on Saturday morning.
Burrows, 44 and from Malvern, clocked 24-39 to finish sixth overall and take the women’s prize by 46 seconds from the promoting club’s Kara Tranter (Wyre Forest CRC), while third fastest female was Gemma Johnson (Beacon Roads CC) with 26-21.
Fastest man was Simon Smart (Drag2zero) with 21-39, which gave him the win by 48 seconds from Ed Moss (Beacon Roads CC), while third was Isaac Russell (Team PB Performance) who was another 21 seconds off the pace set by Smart.
The promoting club’s David Lloyd (Wyre Forest CRC) was quickest rider on a road bike with 25-41 for ninth overall, while fastest female on a road bike was Lezley Moran (Redditch Road and Path CC) with 33-11.
Burrows has tasted victory several times already this season. She began her 2023 season with a win in the VC Sevale 10-mile event on the same course as today back in March, and has also been victorious at the Melton Olympic 25 in May and the Redditch Road and Path CC 10 last month.
This was Simon Smart’s first win of the season in open time trialling. He began with third spot at the Stratford CC 10 in April, and has twice placed fifth – at the Hitchin Nomads CC 25 and the Icknield RC 10 in May.
Next up for him is the Worcester St Johns CC 15-mile event next Saturday, while Burrows is next due to ride the Leamington C&AC 10 next Sunday.
