Veteran rider Nigel Polkinghorne (Duchy Velo) took his fourth victory of the season at the Penzance Wheelers 10, while Martina Geraghty (Penzance Wheelers CC) won the women’s event by almost a minute.
Polkinghorne, aged 48, was the only rider to break the 22-minute barrier clocking a winning time of 21 minutes and 33 seconds.
The S6/10 course saw riders start and finish on the outskirts of Truro before heading along the B3275 out to the turn at Brighton and then making the return leg.
Polkinghorne showed his form finishing runner-up in the City Cycles Couriers RT 10 last weekend and was not to be denied this time out.
After narrowly missing out on the podium positions so far this season Oliver Baylin (Www.Giant-Helston.Co.Uk) finished a season’s best second place stopping the clock in 22-15.
A further 13 seconds behind was Andrew Jason (City Cycle Couriers RT) who finished third in 22-28.
The quickest road bike rider was Alexander Boswell (Truro CC) who completed the course in 23-58.
In the women’s event Martina Geraghty (Penzance Wheelers CC) posted a winning time of 25-09 which was 59 seconds clear of her nearest rival.
Leading the chase behind was Sophie Butcher (Tri Logic Cornwall) who finished second in 26-08 while Rose Willis (St Austell Whs CC) placed third (27-17).
