Paul Burton and Lisa Davis took victory as fastest male and fastest female respectively at the Utag RT 10-mile time trial in Hampshire on Saturday afternoon.
Paceline RT rider Burton set a time of 18-33 on his way to victory to narrowly see off Chris McNamara by three seconds with the Nuun-Sigma Sport-London RT man clocking 18-36, while Primera-TeamJobs’ Samuel Wadsley took third in 19-10.
Davis, riding for Drag2Zero, registered 22-16 on her way to success, with Fareham Wheelers’ Marianne Holt second in 22-45 and a time of 23-38 enough for Kirsty McSeveney (…a3crg) to take bronze.
Fastest junior was 17-year-old Peter Drabble, riding for VC Meudon, who finished the 10-mile route in 20-13.
Burton now has four wins from his six time trials this season, having also won the Hounslow & District Wheelers 100-mile time trial on May 29 – while he also took victory on this same course on April 15 at the a3crg 10-mile time trial.
The 88 male riders and 11 female competitors had to battle blustery conditions with no certain wind direction, making life challenging on the roads.
The event, on course P881/10, starts on the B3006 then heads north on the A3 to Liphook, then encircling the roundabout to follow the A3 back southbound, retracing the outbound route and finishing just north of the start line.
