Pat Wright (Paceline RT) went quickest in the Portsmouth North End CC 25-mile time trial in Hampshire, while Emma O’Toole (Nopinz Motip RT) was fastest in the women’s event on Sunday morning.
37-year-old Wright completed the 25-mile ride in 56:11, over a minute and a half quicker than his nearest rival on the P821/25 course near Wickham.
That nearest rival came in the shape of Paul Jones of Primera-Teamjobs who clocked in at 57:49, one of only two riders to go under the hour mark. Following that time and taking the final podium spot was Danny Hedley (Royal Air Force CA) whose time was 1:01:04.
In what has been an active 2022 for Wright, this event saw him acquire his sixth open event win of the season. His next scheduled event is next weekend at the East Sussex CA 100.
In the women’s event it was Emma O’Toole (Nopinz Motip RT) to come out on top in a time of 1:06:32. Second was Francesca Smith of the Clapham Chasers who clocked a time of 1:08:14.
In her four events prior to this, O’Toole had been on the podium in each one of them having two wins, a second place and a third placed finish. Despite the two wins the most notable finish there may be the third she picked up at the National 100-mile Championship.
Her win here capped off back-to-back victories after the same outcome three weeks back at the Oxonian CC 50.
The road bike category saw Dave Dent (GS Stella) clock 1-02-22 to take the win from Larry Wiltshire (Chichester City Riders), while top female was Sien Van Der Plank (New Forest CC) in 1-35-43.
Separately there was a Portsmouth North End members event which was won by Robert Ford. His winning time was 1:02:49.
