Steve Gibson triumphed in the men’s event, while Anne Haslam was fastest woman at the Yorkshire Cycling Federation 15-mile time trial on Saturday.
Riding for Peak Road Club, Gibson’s time of 35 minutes and 46 seconds was too much for his rivals as he took victory ahead of Valley Striders CC’s Alan Chalmers who registered 36-22, while 38-26 helped Ilkey CC rider Andrew Lambe into third place.
Buxton/Sett Valley Cycles rider Haslam finished in 43-57 to take the women’s prize, while Chalmers’ display earned him first veteran on standard in +7-50.
Gibson now has his first victory of the season after 16 races, having previously finished third at the Matlock CC 25-mile time trial on March 5, and again at the Stockton wheelers CC 23-mile time trial on May 8.
This event, run on the V225 course, started just south of Boroughbridge and proceeded southbound along the A168 to Walshford traffic island before encircling the island and retracing north along the A168 past the start and encircling Boroughbridge South traffic island to follow southbound and finish just north of the start.
