Howard Bayley (Blazing Saddles) snatched victory by eight seconds in the …a3crg Glorious Goodwood Circuit TT, while Angela Carpenter (...a3crg) was a clear women’s winner.
Bayley, aged 47, took his first win of the season recording a winning time of 20 minutes and 24 seconds.
The closed circuit in Chichester saw riders complete over four laps of the exposed circuit to make the 10 miles distance.
The wind was catching the flags surrounding the circuit but conditions on the course were not as bad as some expected.
However, riders were hit by the wind on the section of the course next to the pit lane which did impact times.
The event also incorporated the VTTA (Wessex Group) veteran closed circuit age group championships.
Bayley, from Littlehampton in West Sussex, finished second on his last outing at Glorious Goodwood last month but went eight seconds faster and one position better on this occasion.
Fellow veteran Ronnie Stone (Regents Park Rouleurs) won the Charlotteville Cycling Club 50 in April but had to settle for second this time out clocking 20-32.
Completing the men’s time trial bikes podium was Nik Allen (Team TMC) whose time of 20-49 was just two seconds quicker than James Fawcett (...a3crg) in 20-51.
In the women’s event veteran rider Angela Carpenter (...a3crg) added another win to her collection with her time of 22-20 over two-and-a-half minutes faster than her nearest competitor.
Carpenter, aged 53 and from Chicester, has already been crowned VTTA National 10 and 50 champion this season.
On her last outing at Glorious Goodwood last month, Carpenter was also successful winning in 22-14 and she was six seconds slower this time out.
The men’s road bike category was won by Crispin Doyle (VTTA Wessex Group) in a fast time of 21-24 which was almost two minutes clear of Philip Boarer (Racing Club Ravenna) in second (23-16) while Robert Sweatman (New Forest CC) was third (24-07).
Celia Brown (Beacon Roads CC) was the women’s road bike category winner in 24-29 well clear of Johanna Lovell (Portsmouth North End CC) in second (31-32) while Cath Wallace (Crabwood Cycling Club) completed the podium positions finishing third (34-08).
The heritage bikes category was for those with equipment which dated pre-2001.
George Turner (VTTA London & Home Counties) was the victor in 23-17 ahead of Howard Heighton (Ferryhill Whs) in second (27-36) and Peter Baker (Lewes Wanderers CC) placed third 28-15.
Meanwhile, Chichester City Riders won the 4-up team trial with Adam Coppard, Terry Wilson, James Smee and Larry Wiltshire all contributing to finish in 21-28.
