Tom Harcourt earned a dominant victory on the Ferryhill Wheelers Hill Climb up Quarrington Hill on Sunday morning.
The Team Bikestop Tyrekey 3FS rider was more than 10 seconds quicker than his nearest rival in 02-01-16, with Edward Kingsley of Darlington Cycling Club second in 02-13-75 and Fietsen Tempo’s Mark Snape clocking 02-16-44 for third.
Snape’s Fietsen Tempo team-mate Hilton Armstrong finished in 02-35-33 to claim first veteran in the 60-69 category, while the 50-59 group was won by Zurbaran Racing’s Ian Gaskins in a time of 02-22-35 and the 40-49 category by Snape.
From four hill climb events this season, the impressive and in-form Harcourt now has two fourth-placed finishes and two victories, with the other coming on the THC35 course at the AIMS Cycling hill climb on September 11.
This event, on course THC21, starts on the unclassified road leading to the A688 Quarrington Hill with riders continuing south east up the hill to finish on the crest of the hill.
