Kyle Blackmore (Virtual CC) and Mabli Philips (Maindy Flyers CC) were fastest male and female respectively at the New Year’s Day 10-mile time trial promoted by Cardiff 100 Miles RCC in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Talented youngster Philips, just 14 years old and the reigning juvenile National Closed Circuit Champion following victory at Thruxton back in October, clocked 25-49 to finish as the fastest – and only – female in the field.

Blackmore, the 31-year-old from Maesteg who was fifth in the Welsh 100-Mile Championships in 2021, covered the R10/9 course near Llantwit Major in 21-36 to win overall by 19 seconds from veteran Andy Davies (UF Rowe & King).

Third fastest was 14-year-old junior Alex Coles from Evolution Racing Academy with 22-19, while the third fastest senior was Craig Burrows (Whittlefit Performance) with 22-36.

Droitwich CC’s Karl Moseley clocked 25-52, the 59-year-old being the fastest on a road bike, while second was Philip McNevin (Wheal Velocity) with 33-51, and 13-year-old junior Holly Tregear (Wheal Velocity) clocked exactly 34 minutes.

The event used the R10/9 course which starts to the east of Llantwit Major on the B4265, heads east to the roundabout north of Cardiff Airport before turning for home.
