Matt and Hannah O’Brien (Loose Cannon's Conditioning) took the men’s and women’s victories at the Godric CC 25 in Suffolk on Sunday, riding well clear of their rivals.
Veteran Matt O’Brien started as scratch rider and proved why recording a winning time of 51 minutes and 10 seconds to win the men’s event.
O’Brien, from Woodbridge in Suffolk, finally got the win he desired after finishing runner-up on seven occasions so far this season.
The B25/50 saw competitors complete two out and back laps on the A143 between Harleston and Bungay.
The first riders got the best of the conditions as the heat rose during the morning and was hot by the time the final riders were finishing.
Despite starting last O’Brien was a clear winner finishing 59 seconds faster than his nearest rival.
Spindata had predicted a win for O’Brien in 51-43 but in reality the veteran rider knocked 33 seconds off that time.
Fellow veteran Nick Partridge (VC Baracchi) finished second in 52-09 while Daniel Chambers (Bicester Millennium CC) completed the podium positions stopping the clock in 53-18.
In the women’s event Hannah O’Brien (Loose Cannon's Conditioning) recorded a winning time of 57 minutes and 58 seconds.
Veteran rider O’Brien also won the East Anglian VTTA 10 on her last outing and added another win to her collection this time out.
Fellow veteran Denise Hurren (Sole Bay Cycle Sport) finished second in 59-26 while Sally Withey (Swift Racing) completed the podium positions in third (1-08-23).
