Denise Hurren and Mark Richards were fastest female and male respectively at the Great Yarmouth 10- mile time trial in Norfolk on Friday morning.

Sole Bay Cycle Sport rider Hurren clocked 23-48 to finish as fastest woman ahead of host club rider Jan Smith, whose time of 27-04 helped her claim first woman on handicap in 19-03, and Smith’s team-mate Jenny Anderson in third after recording 27-38.

A hotly-contested men’s event saw Richards triumph by just one second ahead of in-form Lloyd Chapman.

Dap CC rider Richards recorded 20-14 and Chapman (Loose Cannon’s Conditioning) could only settle for second after finishing in 20-15, with VC Norwich’s Chris Holmes third in 20-58.

Holmes won the veteran on standard title in +5-34, Sandy Telfer (Norwich ABC)  was first on handicap in 17-01, while Chapman, James Potter and Robert Staines helped Loose Cannon’s Conditioning to the team prize.

Stonham Barns Park’s Jamie Bretton was fastest juvenile/junior in 23-19, to beat a time of 24-14 by William Horspool from Wisbech Wheelers and 26-23 for Great Yarmouth rider Toby Barnes who was awarded first prize on a handicap time of 14-15.

Held on course B10/43, riders start the 10-mile route near Redenhall and proceed up Bungay Road past Homersfield and then Earsham before reaching Bungay and turning back along the same route to the finish.
