Hannah O’Brien finished as fastest female while Lloyd Chapman was fastest male at Orwell Velo’s 20-mile time trial in Suffolk on Saturday afternoon.
O’Brien, the 45-year-old Loose Cannon’s Conditioning rider, finished the women’s time trial in 49-28 while Gillian Leech, also of Loose Cannon’s Conditioning, recorded 51-33 for second place.
Chapman, 32, ensured an excellent day for Loose Cannon’s Conditioning as he took first place in the men’s event in a time of 43-16, ahead of team-mate Matt O’Brien who was 28 seconds back in 43-44 while a time of 45-43 was enough for Nick Partridge from VC Baracchi to take third place.
The two-up event was contested by three pairs, all from host club Orwell Velo. Gary Freeman and Joshua Aiken finished first in a time of 44-41, ahead of Chris and William Crabtree who clocked 47-15 for second, with Harvey Young and Oskar Everett’s time of 58-29 ensuring they took third.
The 20-mile BS33 course starts on Winston Church Lane, heads towards Debenham before turning towards Pettaugh and onwards to Kenton, Bedingfield and Occuld then, after 15 miles, proceeding left and finishing just north of Debenham.
After beginning the season with a second place at the CC Sudbury 22-mile time trial and a first place at the CC Breckland 10-mile time trial, Chapman will look to build on his fine form at King’s Lynn on April 2 and then Great Yarmouth CC on April 15.
