Laura Davies and James Potter were the fastest female and male riders respectively at the Plomesgate CC 10-mile time trial in Suffolk on Saturday afternoon.
Davies, riding for Orwell Velo, won the women’s category in a time of 24-12, ahead of Loose Cannon’s Conditioning’s Verity Smith who recorded 26-08, while 38-20 was enough for Caroline Wyke (CC Sudbury) to take third place.
In the men’s event Potter (Loose Cannon’s Conditioning) set a time of 22-02 to beat clubmate Stuart Fairweather to first place by five seconds, with VC Baracchi rider Nick Partridge third in 22-25.
Potter, Fairweather and Smith all helped Loose Cannon’s Conditioning to claim the team prize as well, while there was further success for Orwell Velo in the junior section.
In that category Harvey Young took first place in 24-22, with Sebastian Anderson recording 25-29 and Oskar Everett 24-38.
Fairweather was also first in veterans on standard with +04-20 while Jamie Watson, of Clacton Cycling & Running Club, recorded +03-21 and Stowmarket & District’s Julian Bosley was +03:16.
The riders enjoyed clear skies, but a strong easterly breeze on the exposed parts of the route meant a tough headwind for the return leg on the 10-mile out and back course.
