Josh Coyne triumphed in the men’s event while Emily Lockwood was fastest female at the Severn Road Club hill climb on Hinton Hill on Saturday afternoon.
Bpm Coaching rider Coyne clocked 1-58.4 over the 800-yard course to seal victory ahead of Matthew Skeats (University of Bristol Cycling Club) who finished in 2-03.2 with third place taken by Bristol Road Club’s Harvey Thomas in 2-07.0.
In the women’s event, Lockwood (Chippenham & District Wheelers) set 2-36.4 with second-placed Elizabeth Sanders (Saint Piran) behind in 2-50.0 and Avid Sport’s Josie Harcourt coming third in 3-00.8.
Coyne earned his first hill climb win of the season after six events, having previously finished fourth at the PDQ Cycle Coaching hill climb on September 25 and also at the Mid-Devon CC (Widecombe) hill climb on September 24.
This event, run on the UH90 course, starts at the Bull Inn car park and proceeds directly up Hinton hill to finish at the exact point the road immediately flattens out, with an average gradient of 1 in 7 and a distance of approximately 800 yards.
