Morgan Curle was fastest male while Illi Gardner was fastest female at the Dursley Road Club climb of Lampern Hill in Gloucestershire on Saturday morning.
Rogue Racing’s Curle set a time of 4-31 to narrowly defeat former national champion Team Brother UK rider Adam Kenway by four seconds, with Alex Raynard (Velo Bavarian) just one second back in third.
Having won this event last year in 4-33, Curle was able to knock two seconds off his time in retaining his title.
Thee 21-year-old, who celebrates his 22nd birthday on September 9, has enjoyed a promising time trial season so far with a second place finish at the Bath Cycling Club 25-mile time trial on June 15 and a fifth place at the Gillingham & District Wheelers 18.4-mile time trial on March 3.
In the women’s event Gardner, riding for Wahoo Endurance Zone p/b Le Col, completed the climb in 507 to triumph ahead of FTP RC’s Rosie Wayland who set 6-16, with the final podium spot going to University of Birmingham Cycling club rider Sophie Rotheram in 6-29.
This event, run on the UH15 course, starts just southwest of Uley and heads up Lampern Hill past Lampern House.
