Nick English (AeroCoach) was the fastest rider in the VC Bristol 10-mile time trial, staged on the popular U102 course near Rangeworthy in Gloucestershire on Sunday morning.
The out and back course begins on the B4058 where riders are to go north up Wotton Road, passing through Rangeworthy, Bagstone, Heath End and Cromhall before turning at the roundabout just short of Charfield and heading home.
English went off as the favourite for the event, which he lived up to as he finished over a minute faster than his nearest rival.
Second place was David Leighton (Severn RC) who finished his ride in 22:46, while following him for pace was Aaron Pascovitch (Bristol South CC) who was just two seconds slower at 22:48.
After starting his season strongly with two podium finishes English had a couple near misses in following months but come the end of June he was back into the top spots, finishing second at the Severn RC 10 two weeks ago. He carried that momentum into today and captured his first win of 2022.
In the road bike event the victor of the men’s event was Tobias Coates (Bath CC) who completed the course in 23:09, while in the women’s event Jacqueline Rutty (VC Bristol) went fastest in 33:01.
