Chris McNamara (Nuun-Sigma Sports) went quickest in the Brighton Mitre CC 25-mile time trial, while Stuart Bettis (HuntBikeWheels.com) was the winner in the road bike event near Plaistow, West Sussex, on Sunday.

After overnight rain, a sustained period of 75 minutes of rain saw the start delayed for half an hour meaning riders had a dry event but roads still awash with many large puddles, little breeze and a pleasant 15 degrees.

McNamara claimed yet another first placed finish after his win here in 2020. His 52:21 ride this time was the only time on the day sub 53 minutes.

A few minutes slower finishing was Pat Wright of Paceline RT with a 55:01. In the final available podium spot was Colin McDermott (Festival RC), he clocked a time of 57:23.

Of his last five open events McNamara has won three of them, finishing on the podium for the other two also. His last event saw him finish third in a 10-mile event for Paceline RT, back to winning ways here though.

In the road bike event Stuart Bettis was the winner, his final time was 1:00:19.

Following that time to take second was James Bullen (trainSharp Development Team) as he clocked a time of 1:01:27 and the final podium spot was claimed by Robert Lovett of Team TMC who completed the course in 1:01:50.

Bettis also competed in the previously mentioned Paceline RT event that McNamara finished on the podium of, though Bettis finished in 31st, competing against time trial bikes. In the last event that he participated in against similar bikes he claimed the top of the podium for himself. That was in the Brighton Excelsior CC 25 in July.
