William Taylor (GFTL) took victory by just three seconds at the Kingston Phoenix RC event over 10 miles, while Alexa Forbes (London Dynamo) was a convincing women’s winner.

Competing in only his third open time trial of the season Taylor won the event in a time of 20 minutes and 55 seconds beating veteran Andy Critchlow (Norwood Paragon CC) by four seconds.

Taylor, aged 30, also won the Newmarket Cycling & Triathlon Club 25 last year and was again in top spot in this late in the season 10-mile event.

The G10/42 saw riders start south of Dorking before heading out and back along the A24 down to Clark’s Green before making the return journey.

Taylor recorded an average speed of over 28.6 miles per hour on his way to taking top spot.

Also finishing the season in good form is Critchlow, who won the Sussex CA 50 in June, and was just three seconds behind in 20-58.

Fellow veteran Stephen Wilkinson (TWB - On Time Race Team) completed the podium positions stopping the clock in 21-53.

Nathanael Thould (Icknield RC) was quickest juvenile breaking the 23-minute mark to stop the clock in 22-59 which placed him seventh.

Competing in her second open time trial event Forbes took victory in the women’s event recording an average speed of over 21.56 miles per hour and stopping the clock in 27-50.

Christine Glew (KPRC) was second woman in 35-48 while Lenka Vackova (Rapha Cycling Club) was third.
