Pip Jenkins

Prolific time trial rider Chris McNamara powered to another 2022 victory at the East Sussex CA 100-mile event near Hailsham on Sunday morning, while Pip Jenkins (1904 RT) was fastest female.

McNamara, the 47-year-old who rides for Nuun-Sigma Sport-London, covered the distance in a course record time of 3-35-47 to win by 10-20 from Paceline RT rival Pat Wright, while Andrew Rivett (VC St Raphael) was third in 3-49-31.

His time was a personal best by nearly ten minutes, and was victory number 13 for the season according to his CTT record.

Recent wins for McNamara include the a3crg 50 and Finsbury Park CC 50 last month, as well as the Bike Pace 50 in South Wales in May and the Sussex CA two-up 28.5 where he teamed up with brother Simon.

Next weekend Chris is down to ride the Chronos RT 10 on Saturday and the Southdown Velo 10 on Sunday.

Jenkins (1904 RT) covered the course in 4-24-49 which was around 15 minutes quicker than the same event last year, and was enough to take the women’s prize by more than an hour in a depleted female field with Anita Turner (Eastbourne Rovers CC) and Glenda Goscomb (7Oaks Tri Club) second and third.

Eighth at the National 100-Mile Championship last month, Jenkins is no stranger to long distance events with other wins this season including the East Sussex CA 50 in June.

She has entered the National 12-Hour Championship next month, where she will be hoping for a podium finish having placed third in the National 24-Hour Championship on two previous occasions but not in the 12-hour title race.
