Christopher McNamara (Nuun-Sigma Sport-London RT) was the winner of Horsham Cycling 10, while Kate Thomas (Lewes Wanderers CC) was victorious in the women’s event.

Veteran rider McNamara headed the field in 19 minutes and 16 seconds, setting a new course record on his way to the top of the podium.

The 19-16 he rode this year was three seconds quicker than his winning time in the same event last year.

In second place Jacob Storey of Partenza-Nude Espresso RT clocked a time of 19:44, a new open time trial personal best, while Tom Houghton (Team TMC) finished off the podium completing the course in 21:41.

McNamara’s season so far set him up as the scratch-man of this event, with eight open time trial wins in 2022. He was coming off the back of a top five ride in the National 25-mile Championships last weekend.

In the women’s event it was Thomas who came out on top, completing the course in 22:57 which was yet another personal best on the day.

In her previous open events Thomas had finished on the podium in each, she not only won on this occasion but set a new personal best over the 10-mile course.

Second place was ridden by Angela Brown of the promoting club Horsham Cycling, she rode the 10 miles in 24:41.

Spindata predicted that Thomas would set a time of 23:29 so she exceeded that expectation by a significant margin.

The veteran prize on CTT target went to 81-year-old Alan Robinson (Central Sussex CC) who set a Sussex/ Surrey record for the fastest time rode over 10 miles for his age group at 26:27.

The team prize was awarded to Horsham Cycling, their top three consisting of Mark Furth (21:50), Dan Needham (22:47) and Ferenc File (22:56).
