Chris McNamara and Sally Turner were fastest male and female at the Sussex CA 10-mile time trial on Saturday morning, while Josh Golliker claimed the junior course record.
Nuun-Sigma Sport-London RT rider McNamara finished in 19-23, while 18-year-old Golliker (trainSharp Development Team) was just nine seconds behind and in recording 19-32 he took 30 seconds off the previous junior record, while Brighton Mitre CC’s Cris Coxon’s time of 19-58 was enough for third place.
There was a further stand-out performance from a young rider, with Luke Goodwill (VC Londres) finishing in 20-03 in the under-16s category.
Turner, riding for trainSharp, almost claimed another record on the day, with her time of 21-33 enough for victory but just two seconds behind the existing course record set by Joss Lowden.
Second place went to Caitlin Bower, from HuntBikeWheels.com, in 25-10, with third-place Tracey Williams (Brighton Mitre CC) 34 seconds behind in third place.
McNamara now has four victories from rides this season, and will be hoping for more of the same when he competes at the Bike-Pace VTTA National Championship on May 14.
The 10-mile route, on course G10/97, begins near Hammes Farm, just north of Steyning, before proceeding southeastwards via Bramber Castle and Beeding Court towards Adur Bridge.
